Fancy Rats forum

Fancy Rats is a very large website and forum based in the UK. The forum is an extremely lively and active community made up of hundreds of active members and a total membership of thousands.

There are many articles about rats, product reviews, a nationwide rescue and rehoming board, a breeders directory and a web-directory of useful rat-related websites.

The site exists to promote rats as pets and to improve the lives of rats by supporting and educating the people who keep them.

North of England Rat Society

This club has a strong focus on rescue, pet ownership and ethical breeding practices. It has a vibrant and fun atmosphere at it's shows and on the clubs forum. They were the first club to implement pet judge training and to set pet standards for rats to be judged by. At the moment they are the only club that judges pets in this way.

They have a national rescue fund that was devised to help with the costs of rescuing rats. Anyone involved in rehoming rats may apply for rats they are rehoming, it mostly pays out for neutering and medical bills but will pay for or help to pay for equipment and food/litter when appropriate. If you wish to apply to the rescue fund you can do so online via the society's website.

The NERS also started and supports to NERS Pet Initiative, to celebrate the rat as a pet species. This is nationwide and hold social meets, shows geared towards pets, seminars and many other things.

Alison is the treasurer for this society and the rosette and trophy officer.

Betty's Beds Hammocks - the hammocks are strong, beautifully designed, often quirky and inexpensive and my rats don't chew them, which is a bonus as my rats chew everything! The range of hammocks is much greater at the stalls they have at shows than on the website. Lovely shop keepers that are always willing to help out and make to order. We buy nearly all our hammocks from Betty's Beds.

The Rat Warehouse - many good products at reasonable prices, all 'tested' on the owners pet rats so you know they have the ratty thumbs up! We buy nutrical and senior-aid from here for rats needing a dietary boost, as well as the odd bits and bobs that catch our eye!
